Mission

Our sole mission is to provide a strong foundation for new students of Allied Health Science department entrants by teaching basic concept and comprehensive practical knowledge of the gross and microscopic structure and development of human body. We also aim to provide a basis for better understanding of the anatomical structure and histological slides of different tissues.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy, sometimes known as cold therapy, is the local or general use of low temperatures in medical therapy.

Uses: Muscle Spasm, Cold Compression, Acute Injury

Traction

Traction is the process of applying a stretching force to the lumbar vertebrae through body weight, weights, and/or pulleys to distract individual joints of the lumbar spine. It relieves pressure on the spine and alleviates pain from joints, sprains, and spasms.

Uses: Low back pain, Back pain, Joint pain

Treadmill Testing

Treadmills are stationary cardio machines on which you can walk, jog or run indoors. Treadmills usually feature adjustable speeds and inclines to vary your workout, allowing you to simulate a hill with the push of a button.

Uses: Cardio Training, Diabetes, Obesity, Fitness

Continuous Passive Motion

A continuous passive motion (CPM) machine is a motorized device that passively moves a joint through a pre-set range of motion. These devices may be used after surgery to reduce joint stiffness and improve range of motion.

Uses: Range of motion, Post Operative, Post traumatic, Joint Function

Quads Table

The Quadriceps Table with One Torque unit is designed with Backrest for effective administration of progressive resistance exercises to the Knee joints muscle groups.

Core Exercise

Core exercises are those that use your trunk without support, like push-ups, sit ups, and abdominal crunches. These exercises strengthen and train your lower back, hips, abdomen and pelvis to work together for better balance and stability.

Electrical Stimulation

Electric stimulation therapy is a therapeutic treatment that applies electrical stimulation in treating muscle spasms and pain. It can help prevent atrophy and build strength in patients with injuries.

Uses: Nerve Palsy, Pain, Knee Pain

Laser

L.A.S.E.R stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Laser Therapy involves applying low intensity laser light to relieve following damage to soft tissue. Laser therapy facilitates tissue repair and restores normal cell function.

Uses: Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sciatica, Disc herniation, Shoulder Impingement

KT Taping

KT tape provides support and pain relief before, during, and/or after an activity. Range of motion is not limited.

Uses: Neck Pain, Ankle Sprain, Back Pain, Lymphatic Drainage, Tennis Elbow

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive, out-patient alternative to surgery for those suffering from many joint and tendon disorders. ESWT sends acoustic shock waves into bone or soft tissue, in effect reinjuring the area on a cellular level and breaking up the scarring that has penetrated tendons and ligaments.

Static Cycle

A stationary bicycle (also known as exercise bicycle, exercise bike, spinning bike, or exercycle) is a device used as exercise equipment for indoor cycling.

The healthcare system in the country remains incompetent to encounter the health needs and challenges of the population because of many related factors, most prominent among them being acute scarcity of skilled or trained manpower. Efficient and skilled manpower at all stages of the healthcare system is enormously crucial and need of the hour. Allied health professionals should be proficient in the delivery of health or related services, with proficiency in preventive, diagnostic, analytical, therapeutic and/or rehabilitative interventions.

With this perception, the Department of Allied Health Sciences has state of the art laboratory for the program Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT). The lab facilities at Brainware University for BMLT offers conceptualized research driven, modernized, automated cutting-edge technological tools through wide range of early diagnosis plethora, healthcare practices or treatment to endorse retrieval and monitoring advance quality of life.

Phlebotomy is the process of making a puncture in a vein, usually in the arm, for the purpose of blood collection.

Electrolyte Analyzer

The electrolyte analyser is a device for measuring the electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and chloride in biological fluids.

Cell Counter

It’s an automated device that is used to determine the number and types of cells present in a whole blood sample.

Semi - Auto Analyzer

This is a compact, simple, reliable semi-automated biochemistry analyzer, capable to perform tests on whole blood, serum, plasma, CSF & urine as sample.

Colorimeter

A colorimeter is light-sensitive device used for measuring the transmittance & absorbance of light passing through a liquid sample.

Incubator

It’s a device that is used to grow and maintain microbiological cultures and cell cultures.

Hot Air Oven

It’s an electrical instrument which use dry heat to sterilize.

pH Meter

Potentiometric pH meters measure the voltage between two electrodes & display the result converted into the corresponding pH value.

Autoclave

Autoclaves operate at high temperature & pressure in order to kill microorganisms & spores.

Serological Bath

It’s a container filled with heated water that is used to incubate any kind of samples at a constant temperature for long periods.

A laminar flow cabinet is a enclosed Chamber designed to prevent contamination.

An X-ray filter is a material placed in front of an X-ray source in order to reduce the intensity of incident radiation.

Collimator, device for changing the diverging light or other radiation from a point source into a parallel beam.

X-ray tube housing

Housing is made up of lead to stop leakage radiation.

Positioning stand

It is use to assess the anterior segment of the eye and also with the help of accessory lenses the posterior segment can be assessed.

Value Added Course on 'Clinical Medicine with Special Coordination'

The Department of Allied Health Sciences is introducing a 30-hour value added course (VAC) on 'Clinical Medicine with Special Coordination on Odontological Pathology & AYUSH Management', especially for the B.Sc Physician Assistants 6th semester students.

The VAC will start from April 23, 2023 and will continue till April 26, 2023 at UB-IV Room No. - 218. This course has been designed in such a manner which will be beneficial for their future job prospectives of the students.

In the modern context, knowledge about all the legal & prevalent system of medicine is absolutely necessary for designing & implementing a quality healthcare. The knowledge about the said course will help the students to understand the manifestations of the common disorders along with the clinical procedures.

Research Activities of the Department of Allied Health Science

Department of Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University is focused on quality research works which is helpful to the society. The Department have completed two projects – one on COPD with Peak Expiratory Flow Meter and another one on Fabrication of Bio-mask coating: A nanotechnology enabled approach to combat current pandemic COVID-19 which funded by Unnat Bharat Abhiyan- MoE, Govt. of India. At present, faculty members of Department are working in various research areas like bio masks, developing apps for oral Cancer diagnostics, remedy for physical illness, etc. A lively atmosphere for research work exists in the said Department that encourages close collaboration among all the stakeholders of the Department.
