Pharmaceutical Technology Department conducts an international webinar on 'Chemistry of Natural Products: A Key to Recognize Natural Products for Human Life'

Exchange of knowledge is very important for those who are pursuing higher studies. Online education may have its limitations but it has provided the opportunity for students to attend webinars and online workshops. Brainware University is always determined to tap this opportunity for the welfare of its students. On July 28, 2022, the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology organised an international webinar on 'Chemistry of Natural Products: A Key to Recognize Natural Products for Human Life'.

Prof. Mohamed M. El-Shazly, Professor of Pharmacognosy and Natural Products Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain-Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, was the Chief Speaker at the event. The session started at 11 a.m with the inauguration programme, followed by the welcome speech by Dr. B.B.Barik, Associate Professor and HOD, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology. The event continued till 2.30 p.m.

In the first session, Dr. Suman Majumder, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Director of Projects, Brainware University spoke on the topic 'Phytoalexins - the natural bodyguard of plants, some examples and their transformations'.

In the next session, Prof. Mohamed M. El-Shazly gave his presentation on 'Unearthing the Phytoestrogenic Activity of Medicinal Plants: A step forward for a Novel and Selective Phytoestrogenic Assay'. In the last session, Prof. (Dr.) Biswanath Das gave his presentation on the topic, ' Archestra in Our Basic Research.

The webinar was an enriching experience for the participants and they got to solve their queries on the subject during the interactive sessions. A total number of 143 participants were there including external and internal students.
