Invest to your planet

To raise the responsibility among students the Institution Innovation Council with the Department of Agriculture celebrated Earth Day on April 22, 2022 from 9 AM onwards. Anaya Ghosh and Udita Mondal (Assistant Professor, Department of Agriculture) coordinated the event. The objective of this event is to spread awareness regarding the depleting quality of the environment.

The programme started with speeches from event coordinators. Students leveled the soil for effective sowing and nurturing of plants. The area was slightly irrigated with splashes of water. Besides these, all the participants cleaned the area to minimize dry leaves.

The event invited students to come and listen to scientists talking about the impact of the deteriorating environment on human health. “Together, we can make a difference. We need to act as a team altogether” added Mondal. If adequate attention is not paid our environment will suffer from severe damage and scarcity of resources.

The event aimed at shaping the young minds towards building a healthy planet. The students took an oath, “I pledge allegiance to the Earth, to its mountains, rivers, soil and sky. One planet, irreplaceable, to be cherished and protected by all”. Students enjoyed being part of this event and they returned back by 12 pm to the college campus.
