Poetry brings light in times of darkness and helps us look towards brighter days. To celebrate the transformative power of poetry and enhance the communication skills of students, the Communication Club of Brainware University in collaboration with the Department of English and Literary Studies organised a poetry recitation competition titled Sing Thy Muse on April 30, 2022 at 3 PM. Students from all the departments of the university enthusiastically participated by showcasing the poetry that they had written.
The competition saw poems from a wide range of topics tackling mental health issues, climate change, and the need for maintaining the bond of familial love in the age of the internet. The poems echoed the desires and the insecurities of the young students who are trying to find a space for themselves within a rapidly changing world. The poems were further heightened by the passionate performances dipped in their emotions.
After a lot of deliberation, Taatparjyo Moitra was declared the first prize winner followed by Chhua Dutta Chowdhury and Lalit Sharma who were the joint winners for the second position. Sneha Shaw, Komal Kumari Soni, Aishwarya Roy were the third prize winners. We hope to provide more such opportunities for students’ complete development and to enhance their wellbeing.
