Catalyst to unprecedented career growth

The Department of Agriculture, Brainware University presented students with a wonderful opportunity to learn about the market trends and demands. The Webinar on Career Opportunities in Horticulture with Special Reference to Micro Green Cultivation was organised on October 30, 2021 at 3 PM. Dr. Arindam Barman( Department of Horticulture, North Eastern Hill University) was the special guest for the occasion.

Dr. Barman shed light on the niche areas of steady development in the field of horticulture. Opportunities abound, the speaker confirmed in both government and private sector in India for agriculture graduates. “Since India is a leading producer of agricultural products in the world, job opportunities are endless. You need to learn how to make use of them,” he advised.

Microgreens, the speaker revealed, was one such area of rapid development. “A rapidly health conscious world and urban constraints of space has helped raise the concept of micro green into fame. Power packed with nutrients, scientists are leveraging this quality to create breeds which can be commercially or locally grown at minimal cost,” he said.

The final segment of the webinar was spent in a lively discussion with the students and faculty members about the marketing potential of this technology and the cost and setup of polyhouses required for its growth. We hope to provide more opportunities for students to interact with industry experts.
