Why dragon fruit cultivation an advantage for farmers?: Outreach programme by School of Agriculture discusses at Kotra village

An outreach programme was planned by the Department of Agriculture on the occasion of National Farmers' Day on December 23, 2022 at Kotra Gram Panchayat in Dattapukur on dragon fruit cultivation. Dr. Koushik Biswas, HOD, Department of Agriculture delivered an informative lecture on dragon fruit cultivation.

Dragon fruit was chosen because it is very enticing to the farmers due to its profitability and the fact that it requires lower inputs once established. A lot of farmers were present for the session and all the necessary information was provided to the farmers regarding the advantage of dragon fruit cultivation. The primary objective of the event was to make the farmers understand the advantages of growing dragon fruit and in this initiative, the farmers will receive all support from the Department of Agriculture. The farmers were also given viable seedlings for the process.
