Samrat Sannyal, Joint General Manager, Quality Assurance Department conducted a workshop on 'Innovation for Qualitative Healthcare Operation' on 2nd September. The session was organised by the Department of Hospital Management and was attended by the BBA Hospital Management students.
"I understand the meaning of 'quality' in very simple terms," said Sannyal while addressing the audience and went on to explain the yardsticks of quality management in the healthcare sector in very 'simple terms'.
While explaining the quality management system, Sannyal stressed the parameters to ensure quality because ultimately this whole process is linked to customer satisfaction which is the main objective of every company.

A rise in the use of social media and cyber victimisation has led to the number of suicides among adolescents and young adults. All the cases do not come up because of the embarrassment and stigmas associated with it. 10th September is celebrated as World Suicide Prevention Day.
In this regard, the Department of Psychology organised a seminar on 'Suicide Prevention: If there is a will, there is a way. Ipsita Banik, Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychologist (RCI Registered) was the guest speaker at the event. While addressing the students, Banik emphasised how a single suicide impacts many people and discussed the possible ways to prevent suicides. Sharing useful statistics, Banik pointed out that suicide has become the 4th leading cause of death.

The Department of Hospital Management organised a workshop on 'The Importance of Effective Communication in Healthcare' on 5th September. Soumitra Banerjee, Deputy Nursing Superintendent, Vivekananda Hospital, Durgapur was the speaker at the session. At the event, Banerjee shared his experience in healthcare administration.
"The reception of the patients and the patients' party have to be good. The success of the hospital managers depends on effective and empathetic communication with a touch of soft skills," he said.
Banerjee shared his personal experience on how to deal with the patient party in case of outbursts. In this context, he went on to explain why communication is so important in healthcare leadership. "This leads to better employee management and patient outcomes," he added.

Rahul Roy has made our university proud! He is a 5th-semester student of our university who has been selected as the Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) lead of GDSC Brainware University by Google for establishing the Google Developer Student Club at BWU Campus.
On September 10, 2022, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with Tech Club organised 'GDSC BWU Info Session: Ask Everything about GDSC'. The speakers at the event were Aindrilla Das, Ex-GDSC Lead, Google Cloud Champion Innovator and GOld MLSA; Ankita Prakash, Writer and Analyst at Wyzr, Growth Researcher NinjaTalks, Data Scientist Dimensionless Tech and Ankit Sharma, Software Engineer, CISCO, Google Developer and Expert and Microsoft MVP.
The speakers described the community and its importance along with the industry-level development pathway to start. The objective of the Google Developer Student Clubs Brainware University Info Session was to provide knowledge about the club and the Introduction of the core members.

The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) in collaboration with the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology organised a seminar on 'The Technology and Policy Information Available in Patent System' on September 14, 2022.
Mr.Jasprit Singh, Founder, IPquad; Patent Facilitator, Entrepreneur, and Researcher was the speaker at the event. IPquad has been helping colleges and its faculty members to recognize, develop and enforce protection for valuable research & innovation. Singh conducted an interactive session where he explained the basics of Intellectual Property with lots of relevant examples to the faculty members. The interactive session helped everybody present clear the myths related to IP and understand the importance and process.

In 1955, Satyajit Ray adapted Bibhutibhusan Bandopadyay's 'Pather Panchali' for screen and it scripted history. On 15th September 2022, to celebrate the birth anniversary of this great Bengali writer who had a very close association with Nature, the Department of English and Literary Studies organised a screening of 'Sohoj Paather Goppo'.
The film 'Sohoj Paather Goppo' is an adaptation of 'Taal Nabami', a story by Bandyopadhyay. The film incited interest among the students regarding the works of this great Bengali writer who inspired Satyajit Ray to make his timeless masterpiece 'Pather Panchali'.

On the occasion of National Engineers Day, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Brainware University in collaboration with Tech-club conducted a full-day event, technically sponsored by the CSI students chapter on September 15, 2022.
The first part of the event included a national seminar on the current visions of engineers. The programme started with the lighting of lamp by the chief guest, Dr. Debashish Giri, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology, MAKAUT.
After the felicitation, Dr. Debashish Giri addressed the event as a tribute to the most renowned engineer of India, Dr. M. Visvesvaraya. He advised the students to overcome fear and face the hurdles. The chief speaker Mr. Debashish Roy, Product Manager, TCS ION, wished the budding engineers and inspired them to build a better nation.
As the technical session started, Dr. Debashish Giri in his presentation on 'Cyberspace and Cybersecurity' gave a proper idea about the virtual world and the loopholes in it. He said," as we need security in the real world, the same is required in the cyber world. Passwords are not enough but engineers can provide the security."
The session was followed by Mr. Debashish Roy's presentation on 'Artificial Intelligence and Data Science'. He spoke about Basic AI systems and the requirements of Data Science in different streams. "Intelligence is defined as having components like learning, reasoning, problem-solving, perception, and using language," said Mr. Roy.

Pursuing Masters'/PhD in the United States is a dream for every student. The Campus-to-Corporate cell of the university organised a session by the United States - India Educational Foundation (USIEF) on 'Studying Masters'/PhD in the United States'. The event was held on 15th September at the university auditorium.
Sanjibita McDonald Tariang (Sen), Regional Officer, USIEF Kolkata; Unnati Singhania, Education USA Adviser, USIEF Kolkata, and Sumanta Basu, Senior Program Manager, Fulbright Commission in Kolkata, USIF were present for the session.
The event was attended by the students as well as the faculty members of Brainware University. The different kinds of programmes hosted by USIF, the grant categories, and details about the Fulbright Fellowship were discussed at the event.
The USIEF also interacted with the faculty members and the students to resolve their queries regarding higher education abroad. The discussion was very insightful for the students and the professors.

On September 15, 2022, Subir Dey, Joint Manager, Operations and Brand Communications, Ruby General Hospital interacted with the students at a workshop on 'Overview of Hospital Operations'. The workshop was organised by the Department of Hospital Management.
Dey started the workshop in an interactive manner. He asked the students, 'What are hospital operations?'. The questions invited various reactions from the students who shared their perspectives on hospital operations.

On September 16, 2022, the Department of Biotechnology organised a webinar on 'DNA Barcoding Biodiversity and Healthcare Genomics'. The session was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Sankar Kumar Ghosh, Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Assam University.
The webinar discussed the large-scale data on popular molecular markers generated from mitochondrial and chloroplast genomes for assigning the Genomics-based DNA-BARCODING and GENOMIC DIVERSITY and explored the species identification and validation of diverse flora and fauna.

An online 5-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was held from 12th to 16th September.
The event was organised by the Department of Computational Science in collaboration with the Centre for Continuing Education, NIT Warangal. The topic for the programme was 'Intelligent Computing and Applied Data Science'.
Eminent faculty members from IITs, NITs, central universities, experienced professionals from industries and senior faculty members from NIT Warangal conducted the sessions.
The main focus of this programme was to explore the areas to enhance the business benefits of an organisation that will lead to an increase in productivity, efficiency and accuracy. The resource persons for the programme are as follows:

On September 20, 2022, Prof. (Dr.) Prantar Chakraborty, Director (Haematology and BMT), AMRI Hospitals conducted a workshop on 'Medicine is a Social Science: Hospitals are its finest laboratories'. The session was organised by the Department of Hospital Management.
In simple terms, Dr. Chakraborty explained why the study of medicine is not only Science but also Art. He also referred to a popular reality show 'The Big Hospital Experiment' and left an important question for the students - 'Can young people with no clinical experience make a positive difference in the healthcare service?"

On September 20, 2022, the Department of Hospital Management organised a workshop on 'Hospital Quality and Accreditation and an Introduction on Patient Safety'. Tamalika Dey, Senior Manager, Quality Assurance and Accreditation, KPC Hospital and College interacted with the students at the session.
"Hospital quality accreditation is a learning process for me as well," said Dey. She shared her personal experience at KPC Hospital and Colleges and explained how she tried to execute the quality management system at her workplace. Dey then went on to explain her conception of quality management.

On 15 September, a Skit Competition was organized by the Department of English and Literary Studie to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. By performing a skit based on Chattopadhyay’s works, the students celebrated the rich diversity of the human experience represented in the texts of this literary maestro.
Students from all departments participated in the event which began with the welcome speech by Monamie Mukherjee, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Literary Studies. The event started with the performance on ‘Devdas’ and it was performed by a team of B.Tech AIML students. The love and longing presented in this skit was followed by brilliant performances of varied works like ‘Bohurupi’ (excerpt from ‘Srikanto’), ‘Lalu’,’Sashan’ and other excerpts from ‘Charitraheen’ and ‘Devdas’.

On September 24, 2022, the Department of Law organised a seminar on 'Alternate Dispute Resolution'. Justice Ashim Kumar Banerjee, Former Judge, High Court of Calcutta was the guest speaker at the event.
Justice Banerjee remarked, "Even after 75 years of independence, several Indian laws are structured on the British laws." He also added that law is also developing like everything on this planet.

On the occasion of World Pharmacist Day, the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology organised a seminar on September 24, 2022. Eminent personalities from the field of Pharmacy attended the event.
The guests included Dr. Subramanian Natesan, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Kolkata; Dr. Satheeshkumar Nanjappan, Associate Professor, Department of Natural Products, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Kolkata; Dr. Somasundaram Arumugam, Assistant Professor, Pharmacology & Toxicology, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Kolkata and Mr. Prabir Kumar Banerjee, President IPA Bengal Branch.

Saheli Biswas, a B.Sc Biotechnology student received the 2nd Prize in ‘BIONEXT 2022: 2nd International Conference on Frontiers in Modern Biology’ organized by Adamas University.
She presented a work entitled ‘Isolation and Study of Streptomyces Scabies Species that Causes Common Scab Symptoms or Disease on Potatoes and Thaxtomin Interactive Studies with Natural Phytochemicals via Molecular Docking’.

The students and the faculty members from the departments of English and Media Science and Journalism visited Mahajibon NGO on the occasion of International Literacy Day.
Payal Dhauria from the Department of Media Science and Journalism prepared a report on the day-long activity.

The students of department of Mechanical Engineering, Brainware University celebrated Vishwakarma Puja on September 17, 2022.

The 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' club of Brainware University organised a campaign within the campus where the students spread awareness on the adverse effects of using plastic on September 21, 2022.
The group of students moved around the university campus, from classroom to classroom with posters and placards that depicted why the usage of plastic is so harmful to our planet.
The students are the future of society. They have to take the initiative so that society can have a better future. Brainware University has always been taking initiatives to uplift the conditions of the living conditions of the people around its neighbourhood. With the young minds leading from the front, for a 'Clean India', we are hopeful that the other members of the society will come forward to make the country a 'cleaner' place to live!

A poster competition on the 'Current Vision of Engineers' was organised on the occasion of 'National Engineers' Day'. A national seminar on the same topic preceded the competition on September 15, 2022.
9 groups registered for the competition. The competition was a huge platform for the young aspiring Engineers to showcase the blueprints of their ideas and innovations.
The judges' panel comprised Dr. Dipankar Bhattacharya, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Susanta Kumar Mondal, President, IQAC and Mrs. Dipshikha Dutta, Academic Associate. Dr. Bhattacharya said, "You must know how to sell your products and ideas. That is as important as the creation."
The results declared Srija Bhattacharjee, Anasuya Mitra, and Devjit Ghosh of 1st year, CSE department as winners whose poster implied the making of a healthy planet with the help of engineering.
