To uphold the ideals of brotherhood, togetherness and mutual co-existence, 31st of October is celebrated as the National Unity Day, after the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. Sardar Patel was a leading political activist who played a significant role in India's freedom struggle and ushered the nation into independence. To commemorate the 72nd birth anniversary of one of immortal souls of the country, Brainware University observed the National Unity Day at its Barasat campus.
The students of the various departments attended the session and actively participated in the event to show their solidarity. The event commenced with an inaugural speech from the Honourable Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Subrata Dey, followed by an inspiring lecture delivered by the Pro-VC, Dr. Subhasish Banerjee. Thereafter, the students shared their thoughts and opinions on Unity through speeches and various cultural activities. It was a lively session where not only the participants showed enormous vigour and vitality but the audience too got to know more about this national hero and the principles of oneness. It definitely instilled among one and all the spirit of unity, amity and harmonious co-existence.
Highlight of the Month
Vigilance Awareness Week
On the directives of the Central Vigilance Commission and University Grants Commission, Brainware University has observed the National Vigilance Awareness Week -2019 on the theme "Integrity- A way of life" from 28th October to 2nd November 2019 at its Barasat campus. Under the guidance of the senior officials of the University including the Vice Chancellor along with Pro-Vice Chancellor and in the presence of Assistant Registrar, the faculty members and students took the Integrity Pledge for Citizens.
Senior Advocate, Alipore Judges Court: Mr. Amitava Ganguly and Senior Public Prosecutor (North 24 Parganas), Mr. Santomoy Bose were invited as the guests of honour.
To spread awareness on “UNITY” & “INTEGRITY”, the Department of Law had organized an essay writing competition. Other than this there were also some cultural events lined up for the day on the theme “INTEGRITY- A WAY OF LIFE”. It can be said that the day was culturally enlightening and motivated the students to inculcate the virtues of Integrity and Unity and moving towards a path free of corruption.

A Visit to Allen Laboratories
On 24th October 2019, Brainware University organized an industrial visit for B. Pharm students of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, to Allen Laboratories Ltd. Fifty-two B. Pharm students visited their plant at Kestopur. They were accompanied by Assistant Professor Mr. Sreejan Manna and Assistant Professor Mr. Soumallya Chakraborty of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology. At their plant Dr. Subrata Chatterjee (Medical Director) and Dr. G.P. Sarkar (Founder and Director) supervised the entire tour. The students and faculty members visited the Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic manufacturing facilities.
Later on Dr. G.P. Sarkar and Dr. Subrata Chatterjee held an interactive session with the students and faculty members where they explained the different aspects of manufacturing and also shared the history of Allen Laboratories Ltd. They also agreed to visit Brainware University for student seminars if formally invited. They also said that on formal request their board members can decide on giving permission of photography and filming of various industrial activities on their premises for learning purpose.

Let Your Inner Artist Come Out and Play
As part of the Birthday Celebration of two eminent artists of India, Sri Gaganendranath Tagore and Sri M.F. Hussain, on 17th of September 2019, the Department of Multimedia, Brainware University organized two competitions for the students.
In the first Competition, namely “Chitrakar”, a line of poem was given on the spot through a draw of lots. Participants had to draw a painting based on the line of the poem. The competition is dedicated to the illustrations of Sri Gaganendranath Tagore.
In “Chitrakatha”, which was an Extempore Competition, a painting of M.F. Hussain was displayed on Screen and participants spoke for 3 - 5 minutes on the painting.
These Occasions were graced by the presence of Our honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr. Subrata Kumar Dey.
A Visit to Spirited Brio
An Industry Visit to Spirited Brio Animation Studio was a nice experience to the young animators of Masters in Multimedia. All four of them enthusiastically went to the animation studio. The Studio Director Mr. Soumavo Ghosh Dastidar explained them the process how an Animation Film takes shape from the Concept Development to Final Output. The students reached there at 1.30 pm and the visit ended with happy note at 6.30 pm. The students were highly satisfied with the experience.
