In a bid to welcome all the new members into the Brainware family, the University had organized a 12 day Faculty Induction program from the 16th to the 30th of November, 2019 at our Barasat campus. With the objective of understanding their roles and responsibilities as faculty members and to help them familiarize themselves with the structure, functioning, governance, rules, regulations and professional expectations in higher education institutions the program was ushered by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Subrata Kumar Dey and Pro VC Dr. Subhasish Banerjee as interactive sessions which not only instructed but also sought advise and opinion from the new members of the Brainware University academic staff.

Another objective of this activity was to explore pedagogical processes - aims of higher education, curriculum, instructional planning, classroom management and transaction, use of resources and assessment. The teachers were not only acquainted with their new work place and its various structures but were also encouraged to emphasise on the importance of self-development that would assist in the socio-emotional development of students and the importance of nurturing ethics and values in higher education.

Importance of Values and Ethics in Professional World
|
Institute Innovation Cell of Brainware University organized a program under the theme ‘Entrepreneurship’ and the subject of the discussion was “Importance of value and ethics in professional world” on November 5, 2019. Swami Suparnanandaji Maharaj, Hon’ble Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture conducted the session.

Workshop on Film Making |
A Film Making Workshop was conducted by Mr. Rajib Banerjee, Anchor, Actor, Scriptwriter and Director for the members of Deep Focus Cine Club on November 5, 2019. The students were trained to enact a scene and were informed about various technical details about a video production process. The students were enjoyed the session a lot. The session ended with an interactive session with the resource person.

World Sight Day |
The students of Bachelor of Optometry, Department of Allied Health Science, Brainware University has celebrated the World Sight Day 2019 on November 6, 2019. World Sight Day (WSD) is an annual day of awareness to focus global attention towards the blindness and vision impairment. The theme of WSD for 2019 is Vision First. The chief guest on that day was Dr. Shaikh Aarofil Israil (MS) consultant Ophthalmologist, GNRC Hospital, Barasat. He delivered a speech on “Prevention of Blindness”.

World Radiography Day |
The World Radiography Day was celebrated on November 8, 2019 by students of Bachelor of Sciences in Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology, Department of Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University with various activities. The chief guests were Dr. Kajal Roy, Consultant Radiologist, Barasat and Mr. S.N. Jathi, Senior Medical Technologist, NRS Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata.

A Visit by the Executive Chairman of SastaSundar.com |
On November 9 2019, Brainware University’s Institute Innovation Cell organized a talk on Entrepreneurship by Mr. B L Mittal, Founder and Executive Chairman of SastaSundar.com. A Chartered Accountant by education, Mr. Mittal worked with the Birla Group before starting his dream e-commerce SastaSundar. He encouraged the students of Brainware University to develop entrepreneurial skills and gave them mantra of Focus, Patience and Determination.

Debate Competition |
On the special occasion of 131st birth anniversary of Dr. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Brainware University, organized a debate competition at Barasat Campus, to pay a small tribute to the Freedom fighter and the visionary of Indian Education system on November 12, 2019. Students from various disciplines participated and a lot of contradictory, constructive and healthy arguments took place when students were given the topic “education should be privatized”. The session turned out to be very interesting when the second topic “Freedom of speech is a necessity in a functional society” was introduced to them.

World Diabetes Day |
On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, an awareness program was organized by the students of the Department of Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University on November 16, 2019. The program was inaugurated with a diabetes awareness rally in the locality. Dr. Subrata Mondal, MD, Medical Superintendent of Barasat District Govt. Hospital and Dr. Sourav Nag, eminent physician and consultant Diabetologist of Barasat, Kolkata were invited to deliver speeches on the causes and consequences of Diabetes Mellitus.

Demonstration of Basic Life Support Skill |
Department of Allied Health Sciences has organized a training session on Basic Life Support Skill on 16th November 2019. Mr. Malay Mukherjee and Mrs. Mousumi Mukherjee from St. John Ambulance, Barasat, Kolkata, who were the chief guests of this program, talked about the identification and differentiation of various medical emergency situations. The training session was carried out with mannequins with in-built sensor for demonstration of CPR and automated external defibrillator.

Children’s Day |
On 14th of November, 2019, Brainware University celebrated his 130th Birth Anniversary who was one of our foremost leaders of the Indian independence movement. On this day the Department of Management and Commerce organized a competition of extempore presentation on the themes of “Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and Modern India.” and “Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and International Relations of India.”

Pre-Placement Grooming Session- Basics of ERP |
The Department of Management and Commerce together with the Brainware University Placement Cell organized a pre-placement grooming seminar for it's final year BBA, B.Com and MBA students on "Basics of ERP" on November 19, 2019. Experts shared their experiences and knowledge on the related fields like Basics of ERP, Accounting & ERP - The Codependency, ERP Modules and Function,The Current Market Scenario of ERP, Tally, etc.

Keshab Chandra Sen’s Birthday Celebration |
The Birth Anniversary of Keshab Chandra Sen, the great intellectual and famous Brahma leader of the 19th century Bengal was celebrated by Department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, Brainware University on 19th November, 2019. An intra-university quiz competition on ‘Socio-Religious Reform Movements in British India’ was conducted on that day. The program inaugurated with the speech of Assistant Registrar Ms. Anandita Das, Dr. Sankar Gangopadhyay, Director of Research and Dr. Joydev Chandra Hazra, Adjunct Professor of Chemistry department.

Pharmacy Week |
The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Brainware University celebrated “National Pharmacy Week” on November 20, 2019. This year’s theme was “Pharmacist: Your medication counsellor”. Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Associate Vice President, Health care division, Emami, Dr. Gopeshwar Mukhopadhyay, Dean , School of Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University and Prof. Jitendra Nath Pande, Adjunct Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Technology, Brainware University graced the occasion and delivered their valuable speeches.

Brainware Skills has been awarded residential training under Retail Sales Associate at Barasat Campus as a Pilot Project under National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). First batch with 30 candidates completed with 100% placement in renowned Retail Organisations. Mr. Goutam Sen, General Manager, NABARD visited the campus of Brainware University on November 21, 2019 and addressed the trainees. He also had a discussion with the Honourable Chancellor, Brainware University regarding the future prospect of the skill development training in the rural parts of West Bengal.

Indian Constitution Day |
The School of Law, Brainware University observed ‘National Constitution Day’ on 26th November, 2019 by a live airing of the National Commemoration function of Constitution Day, by Hon’ble President, Vice President and Prime Minister of India. The program was presided over by Respected Pro-Vice Chancellor, Subhasish Banerjee. Assistant Professor Amrita Das Gupta gave an introductory speech on the relevance of The Constitution and the students of the BBA LLB performed a short drama: “Terrorism: The Vice seeping in through Borders”.

Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose’s 161st Birth Anniversary |
On the occasion of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose’s 161st birth anniversary on the 30th of November, 2019, Brainware University had organized a Seminar in an effort to educate the students on the contributions of one of India’s and the world’s greatest scientists. In the attendance of the Vice Chancellor Dr. Subrata Kumar Dey and Pro VC Dr. Subhasish Banerjee the students and all other members of the fraternity paid their respects to Sir Bose through various lectures and presentations.

“It’s not about ideas, its about making ideas happen!”- A Talk by Alamin Rahaman |
|
Our student Alamin Rahaman (BBA, Final Year) gave a motivational speech to the budding entrepreneurs of the University in an event organized by the Institution Innovation Cell (IIC) of Brainware University on November 19, 2019. Mr. Rahman is the founder of The Way of Solution, an online educational platform that uses YouTube for broadcasting. Recently YouTube awarded Mr. Rahaman with a Silver Play Button, as his channel has more than 300K subscribers and is visited by more than 50k people daily. He also featured in the list of West Bengal’s Top Educators 2018. The enthusiastic and captivating talk by Mr. Alamin Rahman was inclusive of all possible business details as well as the motivational elements for the youngsters to become a studentrepreneur. The audience was highly responsive and seemed to have enjoyed the lecture to a great extent.

An one-day workshop with Duncan Rice |
“Be a Voice, not an Echo!”

Students of Brainware University found their voice with Duncan Rice at a session, FIND YOUR VOICE, organized by the Communication Club of Brainware University. Duncan Rice, former Head of the Department of Drama, St. John’s College, Cambridge and the current Director of Helen O’ Grady International EduDrama Academy came to Brainware University, Barasat on the 1st of November, 2019 to conduct an interactive session with the students of the University. Duncan trained the students in using their voice as an effective tool of communication. He taught students to recognize their inner resonance and discover their natural ability to enunciate clearly through various fun-filled activities. It was indeed a beautiful experience to see the beaming students after an exciting and memorable session.

A Visit to the Plant of Keventer Agro Ltd

The students of MBA along with their mentors Mr. Harsh Arora and Mr. Mainak Chakraborty from the Department of Management and Commerce, Brainware University, have visited the production unit of Keventer Agro located at Subhash Nagar, Nilganj Bazar, Barasat as a part of the industry visit under IIC of Brainware University. Mr. P. Naha, the Vice President of Keventer Agro addressed the students and gave inputs to the students, about the requirement of the industry as far as their placements are concerned. The students were also guided on the areas they should focus upon while studying MBA as it will help them to become industry ready.

A Visit to Disha Eye Hospital

“Clinical Visit influences on students positive attitudes towards the clinical scenario.”

The Department of Allied Health Sciences has organized one day clinical visit to Disha Eye Hospital for Bachelor of Optometry Students. The clinical visit consisted of an Introductory note by Mr. Ranabir Bhattacharya, CFO, Disha Eye Hospitals and a session on the “Role of Optometrist in Eye Hospitals” by Mr. Kaustabh Banerjee, Head Optometrist. Ms. Satabdi Pachal ushered the students into different parts of the hospital and acquainted them with the Optometrists. This visit has provided great exposure to the students towards the clinical field and motivated towards the profession.
