2nd National Conference on Biotechnology and One Health

Brainware University, Department of Biotechnology organised a 2nd National Conference on Biotechnology and One Health on June 10-11, 2022. The conference was aimed at providing students access to the latest development in the field of biotechnology and healthcare. Renowned researchers from top research institutes in the country joined as guest speakers.Prof. Sib Sankar Roy, CSIR-IICB, Kolkata was the keynote speaker at the event. Prof. (Dr.) Samir Ranjan Sikdar, Bose Institute, Kolkata delivered the distinguished lecture on the 2nd day. Genetic engineering and the future of biotechnology in healthcare emerged as a promising area for students to explore.

Webinar on Emerging Trends in Literary Studies-Digital Humanities

To make the students aware of digital humanities, the Department of English and Literary Studies conducted a webinar titled “Emerging trends in Literary Studies- Digital Humanities” on June 1, 2022. Dr. Koel Mitra (Assistant Professor of English, The Neotia University) was the key speaker of this event.Mitra initiated the discussion by explaining what digital humanities is.The session came to an end with the speaker sharing that digital humanities has accumulated a robust professional apparatus that is probably more rooted in English than any other department.

Webinar on An IoT Based Smart Entrance Systems

The job prospects in the field of IoT are limitless. The Department of Computational Science organised a webinar on “On An IoT Based Smart Entrance Systems” on June 4, 2022 to help students prepare for a wonderful career. Ms. Debasmita Saha, Mr. Rintu Roy, Mr. Rishi Sinha, Ms. Anchal Kumari were the guest speakers for the event. They talked about how IoT is taking over the industry through the integration and interconnection of the physical and the cyber world. Finally the speakers moved on to introducing students to resources to help them start their career journey in the field of IoT.

Workshop on "Innovation-Passion or Profession"

The School of Management & Commerce in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council organised a Workshop on Passion or Profession on June 18, 2022. Mr. Aniruddha Kaushal(Chief Transformations Officer, Kaushal Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd.) was the guest speaker for the event. Through the workshop the speaker informed the students about the ways in which entrepreneurship can be an exciting career venue for them to explore.

Seminar on practicing Raj and Hath Yoga

Future leaders need healthy bodies to lead the world. To enlighten the students regarding the sound functioning of mind and body, the Department of Allied Health Sciences organised a one-day 'Raj and Hath Yoga Seminar'. Internationally acclaimed Raj yoga specialist BK Asmita, Experienced Raj yoga practitioner Binod Kr. Singh and Hath yoga practitioner Kabita Sarkar were the guest speakers at the event. They demonstrated different exercises for the students to practice after spending a long time at their desks.

Workshop on 'Psychological Skill Building' for Nursing students

A 2-day workshop on 'Psychological Skill Building' was organised for the B.Sc Nursing 1st year and the General Nursing and Midwifery (G.N.M) Ist year students.Ms. Binati Mondal, Student Counsellor conducted self-exploration activities, SWOT analysis, motivational and group bonding activities for the 'self-growth' of the students. The event was a refreshing one for the students as they indulged in the exploration of self-growth that will help them in their professional lives

A 3-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was organised by the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology in collaboration with IAPST and Institution Innovation Council (IIC) from June 16-18. The theme for the event was 'Novel Approaches to Strengthen Pharmaceutical Innovation'. Eminent industry experts from the field of pharmaceutical sciences joined as guest speakers for the event.

Resounding Win: Brainware University students win Moot Court Competition 2022

Our students have made us proud. Mridutpal Bhattacharyya (LLB 3rd year); Shreyasi Ghatak (LLB 2nd year) and Md. Wali Aman Mondal (LLB 3rd year) has won the Moot Court Competition 2022 organized by Techno India University, Kolkata. Their win is a sign that young minds are being mentored as the Bright advocates of the future. We hope our students continue to better themselves in all arenas.

The launch of the book 'Pharmacokinetics: Basics to Applications' written by Prof. (Dr.) Biswajit Mukherjee took place at the Central Library of Brainware University. Dr. B.B.Barik, HOD, Pharmaceutical Technology was present at the launch. Other faculty members and B.Pharm students also attended the event.Pharmacokinetics is such a topic which is not very popular among the students and even among the teachers. This book by Dr. Mukherjee is designed to cater to the Pharmacy and medical students, teachers as well as industry professionals.

C2C cell organises a session with Anupam Das: Scope and prospects of Hospital Management

At present, almost all medical colleges have 4-5 Assistant Superintendent positions who are from Hospital Management background. In order to speak about the 'Career Planning and Career Opportunities in the field of Hospital Management', Anupam Das, Chief Manager, Medical Administration and Quality Assurance, Peerless Hospitex Hospital and Research Centre was present at a seminar organised by the Campus-to-Corporate (C2C) cell. Das shared with the students the concept and ideas about the course curriculum towards the ever-changing industry.

Hands-on training in optometry: Hospital visit in collaboration with Spectra Eye Hospital

A hospital visit for the Optometry students from the Allied Health Sciences Department was organized in collaboration with Spectra Eye Hospital. The visit was instrumental in enhancing the practical knowledge of the students because of the hands-on training sessions by experts ophthalmologists in different departments like VHF Vision Therapy, Ophthalmic Dispensing.

Curving caricatures with Debasish Deb

It was a dream-come-true moment for the Multimedia students as they get to meet and interact with the man who made the childhoods all the more memorable - Debasish Deb.The legendary cartoonist and caricature artist was present at the award ceremony of craft competition which was organised by the Art and Craft Club and Multimedia department on the occasion of Rabindra Saranika.The award ceremony was followed by a workshop on designing cartoon characters where the eminent cartoonist shared with the students, the subtle nuances that must be known to a graphic artist.

Free-of-cost physiotherapy clinic in neighborhood: An 'observe and learn' opportunity for students

The Allied Health Science students had a successful hands-on training session at the free-of-cost Physiotherapy clinic which took place on May 28 at Shishir Kunj, Madhyamgram. The BMLT and Physiotherapy students rendered services to more than 30 patients in the vicinity under the supervision of programme coordinator Sourav Mitra. At the clinic, physiotherapeutic services and treatment were provided. Also, a blood grouping examination was conducted.
