Role of Allied Health Care Professionals in COVID19
|
Department of Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University organized an webinar on May 1 2020 to provide students and the larger community correct and reliable knowledge on COVID-19 prevention. More than 130 students and faculty members joined in to interact with Dr. Aprit Kr Saha (MD Microbiology and Infectious Disease, IPGMER, SSKM Hospital, Kolkata) to learn about how effective the lockdown has been in preventing infection spread. It was wonderful to hear that social distancing has really lowered the infection curve and things have slowly started to improve.

Past, Present and Future of VLSI Industry |
An hour-long webinar on “ Past, Present, and Future of VLSI Industry” was hosted by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Brainware University on May 2 2020. From Analog Electronics to Solid State Device, Dr. Sagar Mukherjee (IEEE SSCS Delegate & Device Engineer, Sankalp Semiconductor), the speaker, touched on everything related to VLSI. For students, the best part of the interaction was the way he explained job prospects of all the related fields and gave tips on how to prepare for different job roles in these fields.

The Department of Computational Science, Brainware University organized a webinar on May 5 2020 to inform students about the ins and outs of Cloud Computing. Our expert guest Mr Jason Lee (Senior Cloud Native Architect, VMare, Asia Pacific Japan) shared his insights about how the Java Spring framework can be effectively leveraged to make cloud platforms all the more accessible and efficient. He added, to the students’ delight, that the job prospects in this field are excellent.

Brainware University organized a webinar on May 6 2020 to guide the students on “How to Prepare for interviews after COVID-19 Pandemic”. Mr. Arunangshu Chatterjee (Regional HR Head(East), Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd.) shared insights from his years of experience on the exact parameters by which recruiters judge the merit of a student. He told that It isn't just the academic performance that matters but a candidate’s attitude plays an equally important role.

In order to introduce our students to the different uses of virtual reality as a creative medium, Brainware University Department of Computational Science in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) held a webinar on “Introduction to Virtual Reality for Beginners” on May 8 2020. Our guest speaker and accomplished entrepreneur Ms. Dhriti Chatterjee provided students with several instances where the concept of virtual reality can be applied for creative and entrepreneurial success. The area is so new and uncharted that students can come up with several innovative ideas and take the business world by a storm.

An Overview on DevOps |
The Department of Computational Science Brainware University successfully organized a webinar titled “An Overview on DevOps” on May 2 2020. Mr Bidhan Acharjee, the guest speaker spoke at length about the vast area open to students who can master this concept. From Amazon to Google, nothing escapes the purview of DevOps. Therefore in this digital age it is an extremely handy tool to have in one's toolbox. It was clear from the overwhelming response that the students greatly enjoyed the healthy mix of theory and practical implementation.

The Department of Biotechnology and C2C Department, Brainware University organized a webinar on ”Impact of Discovering Vaccine and Drugs against Corona: Career in Drug Industry” on May 8, 2020 at 5:00 PM in association with SHRM Biotechnologies Pvt.Ltd. Dr Nilanjan Banerjee(Senior Training Coordinator, Online Vertical SHRM Biotechnologies) helped us look into our cells, the tiny warriors who work endlessly to protect us.

Workshop on Character Design |
On May 9 Creative Curves - the Art and Craft Club of Brainware University along with the Department of Multimedia organised an Online Workshop on Character Design. Mr. Debasish Deb, eminent Cartoonist and Illustrator enchanted the students with his mesmerizing skill in Character Designing. He showed through sketches how physical attributes can represent a character's personality or completely change it. The students were amazed to see that a simple crooked smile on a sketch can change the demeanor from fun to sarcastic.

Brainware University’s Department of Allied Health Sciences organized a special webinar on “Quantities and Units used in Radiation Protection” on May 9 2020 to answer all our radiology related questions. Our aspiring radiologists from Semester II of B.SC in MRIT joined in to listen to our expert Ms. Shilpa Singh (Assistant Professor & Radiation Safety Officer, Radiology Department, Maharishi Markandeshwar). She discussed the various safety equipments available to protect professionals working in high radiation prone zones and additional precautions which can be easily implemented.

Mr Kamol Das (Senior Perfusion Technologist, RG Kar Medical College) shared his insights on the brave service these heroes provide in a special webinar on “Role of Physician Assistant to combat against pandemic COVID-19” organised by Brainware University on May 9 2020. As a senior perfusion technologist at RG Kar Medical College Mr Das has years of experience in dealing with critical patients. He discussed the implementation of various devices such as ECMO and CRRT which actually helps save countless lives daily and is especially crucial in treatment of high-risk COVID-19 patients.

To educate students about the effect of COVID-19 on public health policies The Department of Law, Brainware University organized a special webinar on “The COVID-19 Pandemic and Public Health Concerns-- Ramifications and Redressal through Existing Legal Policy tools” on May 11 2020. Our guest speaker Ms. Paramita Dasgupta(Lecturer, WBNUJS) discussed the legal concerns surrounding the current guidelines of WHO for pandemic control. It was great to hear her confirm that our country has several legal measures in place to help mitigate the financial and health crisis of the lockdown.

What makes a company successful? Is it the brand image, public relations, or product innovation? To answer all our burning questions we invited Sandhya Sutodia, a former Journalist and co-founder of Turiya communications LLP, as the speaker on May 12 2020 at a webinar jointly organized by the Department of Journalism, Mass communication & Media science and the C2C Department. Ms. Sutodia revealed a new world to the students – the world of business and how the media plays an important part in it. She specifically spoke about the importance of communication & the PR magic in the media industry.

As a part of the grooming programme we had arranged the Online Webinar on Insight into Job Market Post COVID19 where Ms, Poulami Goswami, HR Manager , Yellow Cloud Productions private limited, briefed the students about how to prepare a good Resume and how one should groom himself / herself for a job in Multimedia. PhotoFrame Mentor Mr. Arghya Chatterjee shared his tips to master all the technical aspects of photography. He demonstrated how with a tiny change in exposure or focus an otherwise ordinary photograph is completely changed.

Brainware University C2C Department invited Mr. Supratim Chowdury (HRD KMRIPL, Founder & Secretary- UKBFWS Kolkata) as the guest speaker on our webinar titled, “Career Management post-COVID 19) on May 14 2020 to share some career tips with our students for their overall personality development. Mr. Chowdury’s vast experience of training youth was evident in his kind and thoughtful words of advice. He recommended that students cultivate industry specific skills and an outgoing personality to get the best jobs.

The Department of Cyber Science & Technology, Brainware University in association with C2C Department organized a one day online seminar on “Cyber Security”, on May 19, 2020, to raise awareness about the different cyber vulnerabilities that challenge our network systems daily. Cyber-attacks have increasingly become the norm and prospective Cyber Security graduates need to be aware of the latest developments in order to tackle them effectively. Our guest speaker, Mr. Suman Ghosh(National Technical Head, IIHT LTD) discussed the various types of cyber-attack like Phishing attack, DOS attack, Ransom ware and how to easily neutralize the threat.

Students of Brainware University were given a golden opportunity to interact with Mr. Pawan Kumar Ruia (Chairman, Ruia Group) who was the guest speaker in one of our ongoing leadership talk series on “Post Pandemic Job Prospects” jointly organised by Brainware University and Insitution’s Innovation Council(IIC) on May 19 2020. It was a great privilege to be able to witness the chairman of one of the fastest growing conglomerates in India inspire a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurial excellence in our students.

Department or Electronics and Communication Engineering, Brainware University invited Mr. Tarun Kumar Jha(Process Engineer & CEO, Euclid Labs) to deliver an online lecture on “Different types of PCBs and heat management in Electronics” on 20 May 2020. Mr Jha discussed the different kinds of PCB’s widely used in electronics and the ways in which heat can be minimized to improve their longevity and function.

An online Workshop on Cinematography was organised by Deep Focus the Cine Club of Brainware University in coordination with Nikon, live through the Brainware University Facebook page. The Online Workshop was conducted by Mr. Sathya Narayan, Technical Officer, NIKON. He firstly gave insight into the field of Cinematography and discussed all technical issues involved in handling a Movie Camera and answered all the queries raised by students.

Our nation is facing an unprecedented crisis in the face of COVID-19 but we are not giving up. The need of the hour is to stand beside our fellow citizens and help those less fortunate by giving freely. To carry out the promise of transformational growth and support in our villages, Brainware University under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan initiative distributed 750 kilograms of rice and 150 kilograms of pulse among the less privileged with the help of the Barasat Police Station on May 4 2020. We are grateful for being able to cooperate with the authorities to alleviate the sufferings of our fellow brothers and sisters. We firmly believe that it is only when we follow the mandates and support each other in this fight against COVID-19 that the battle shall be won.

Brainware University has organized ‘Digistar’ - a multifaceted online competition on April 30 2020. It was a platform where students could showcase their talents in various fields. From Photography to App Development, from Creative Writing to Painting, from Recycling Waste-Materials to Music and Recitation- the options were endless. Corona Virus could not stop our students from creating, learning and growing. In this time of much morbidity and gloom, our students created the world of theirs dreams. They showed us way to celebrate life!

A Tribute to the Maestro!

The Final year students of Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Multimedia and Web Development under the guidance of Ms. Susmita Dey launched a 24 hour challenge to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Satyajit Ray. They began making a tribute film. Script was prepared, edited and finalized overnight through WhatsApp group. Camera started rolling on 1st May 2020. Having the actors at their own homes, miles away from each other, director giving direction through WhatsApp group and editor and compositor compiling footage in their private setup, the challenge was that they had only a day to complete the process. The thing, which bound them together apart from Internet, was their passion. The film indeed got completed on time to pay the legendary filmmaker Shri Satyajit Ray a glorious tribute.

Tough times don't last but tough people do
|
Here's a message of hope for those who feel helpless and upset. Brainware University invited Mr. Prodip Mukhopadhayay (MD, Webel) to share a few words of wisdom to motivate our students during this pandemic. “Tough times don't last but tough people do”, was the mantra he wanted students to follow. No matter what humans are exceptionally resilient and we shall come out victorious. So in the meantime, students must prepare themselves for the future. He reminded the students that giving in to despair won't help but honing their individual skills will improve their chances at success. Mr Mukhopadhayay urged the students to always stay hopeful and look towards the future. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr Prodip Mukhopadhayay for guiding our students.
