WOMEN'S DAY, 2021


Indian Women: A Journey From The Past To Present

Women hold up half the sky. The struggle of Indian women in the past has shaped our modern society in ways that often go unacknowledged. To restore the cultural history of the Indian women and highlight their role in society, the Central Libraries of Brainware University and Brainware Group of Institutions organised a programme in a belated celebration of International Women’s Day 2021 on March 29, 2021 at 4PM.
Esteemed scholars, including Dr Rachana Chakraborty (Professor, Department of History, University of Calcutta), Dr Rita Choudhury (Associate Professor, Department of History, University of Calcutta) and Dr Kabita Chakraborty (Associate Professor, Department of Law, Brainware University), were the guest speakers for the event and they discussed various aspects of experience of women in the past and the present.
Women’s issues both in governmental affairs and in their deliberate erasure from history was discussed in detail to make the students aware of the scopes of improvement in terms of creating a more equitable nation.
The session ended with Dr Rachana Chakraborty urging students to “use education as an empowering tool and uplift the minorities. Remember, history is a construct created by the people and you have the power to make it a fair one,” she said.

International Conference on The Emerging Technologies in Computing

Trends in the world of computing are changing so rapidly that IT graduates must be aware of such changes to make a mark in the professional world. To that end, the 1st International Conference on The Emerging Technologies in Computing was held on March 5, 2021 and March 6, 2021. The conference was conducted by The Department of Computational Science, Brainware University in collaboration with IEEE Student Branch, Brainware University, to motivate and assist faculty members, research scholars and students from various institutions to collaborate on the recent developments in the field and establish a robust research ecosystem.

The keynote speakers were Mr. Bidyut Mitra (Head of OSS Analytics, Service Delivery, Digital Business Services, Ericsson), Mr. Luca Commodi (Head of Orchestration and Fulfillment - Service Delivery, Ericsson, Mr. Sounak Dey (Scientist, TCS Research & Innovation) and Mr. Sylvano Idaria (Senior Lead Solution Architect, Ericsson).
Each of the presentations highlighted particular areas of development in the field of computational science. From IoT to Artificial Intelligence, the conference covered a gamut of ideas relevant for seasoned scholars as well as for budding professionals. It became clear that IoT and Machine learning in particular would propel the industry towards further development. Such events allow us to take stock and discuss with others in the field. The event came to an end with an insightful panel discussion followed by audience Q&A.


One-day Workshop on ‘Identifying Vulnerabilities with Ethical Hacking

To have an edge over the others in cyber security, the Department of Cyber Science and Technology organised a One-day Workshop on ‘Identifying Vulnerabilities with Ethical Hacking’ on March 3, 2021. The key speaker, Belly Rachdianto, Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and EC-Council Instructor (CEI) trained the students how to identify vulnerabilities and keep the client’s system safe.
Rachdianto guided the students on how to use Kali Linux by configuring protocols and tools. He explained to the students that it is important to safeguard sensitive data and thus one needs to enhance their digital network security and prevent security breaches to be a successful cyber security professional.


One-day Online Workshop on Top-Paying Digital Careers

A one-day online workshop on Top-Paying Digital Careers was organized by the department of Cyber Science and Technology, Brainware University, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Digital Education, on March 4, 2021.
The guest speaker was Ms Dhwani Shah, a strategic marketing specialist at IIDE.
The primary objective of the workshop was to illustrate the prospective areas in digital platform and the wide scopes of digital career across the globe. To emphasise this, Ms. Shah said, “A majority of growing careers are tech-oriented with artificial intelligence and block chain at the top.”
She also highlighted the emerging job opportunities in the post-pandemic era. “By 2025, 97 million new roles may emerge that are more adapted to the new division of labour between humans, machines and algorithms,” she said.
The session concluded with queries from the participants and a vote of thanks by the head of the department


One-day Workshop on Identifying Vulnerabilities with Ethical Hacking

What is the relevance of cyber security in online business systems? The pandemic has forced businesses to shift to the digital platform, a move that has exponentially increased the demands for cyber security analysts. To help prepare the students for the booming job market The Department of Cyber Science & Technology, Brainware University, in collaboration with The Forum for Quality Assurance (FQA), UK Ltd. had organized a One-day Webinar on ISO 27032: Cybersecurity Management System Standardization in Current Digital Transformation Era on March 06, 2021. Mr Faiz Ahmed ( Director FQA, UK Limited) the guest speaker for the workshop advised students to find their Unique Selling Point (USP) and market themselves accordingly for enhanced career growth.


A Virtual Workshop on Email Etiquette

What sets a candidate apart from the others in a highly competitive job-market? The Future Job Reports published by the World Economic Forum seems to suggest that 98% of the candidates need to have not only a peerless CV but also the necessary soft skills to operate in a professional environment. To help our students groom themselves for a better career, The Department of Campus to Corporate, Brainware University in collaboration with British Telecom organised A Virtual Workshop on Email Etiquette on March 9, 2021 from 1 PM.
Mr Ravi Sharma( Senior Manager, Operations, British Telecom), Mr SN Rao (Campus Head, British Telecom), and Mr Deepak Sharma( Personal Effectiveness Learning Professional, British Telecom) were the guest speakers for the event. They went through several sample emails and demonstrated to the students how small mistakes can cost a job opportunity. The speakers also shared valuable writing strategies with students for a successful professional career.

Online Workshop on Application of Web GIS

An online workshop on Application of Web GIS was organised by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Brainware University, on March 13, 2021. The objective was to make students aware about how Geospatial Information System (GIS, also known as Geographic Information System) uses web technology to communicate between a server and a client. The guest speaker, Ms Reema Gupta, senior GIS developer, National Informatics Centre, Delhi, was invited to grace the occasion. Ms Gupta explained how thanks to GIS data extraction and analysis has been simplified. She also advised students on ways to prepare for a career as GIS analyst and the different job opportunities available in this field.


One-day online workshop on Leadership Career in Cyber Security

Career opportunities in cyber security are at an all-time high. To make a mark in the industry, students must know the various specializations, scopes and skills.
The department of Cyber Science & Technology, in collaboration with EC-Council, organised a one-day Online Workshop on Leadership Career in Cyber Science & Technology on March 13, 2021 from 3.30 PM.
Mr Talha Jawad (Manager Academia of EC-Council) was the resource person for the event. He started the discussion by making the students understand the certifications a good cyber security professional needs. Mr Jawad informed students about the iLab facility offered by EC-Council and how it offers resources to conduct demo sessions of diagnostic services.
An interesting Q&A session was held at the end to help address students’ queries.


A Workshop on Social Entrepreneurship

To make young professionals aware of the social problems of entrepreneurial ventures and to teach them the way to tackle it, Institute Innovation Council along with the Department of Management, invited Satya Gopal Dey (psychological counsellor, Vikramshila Education Resource Society) on March 17, 2020 as the guest speaker for a Workshop on Social Entrepreneurship.
The workshop highlighted the basic concepts of social enterprise and equipped the students with tools which will help them plan their own business. Dey talked about the challenges that social entrepreneurs generally face. He mentioned that hardwork will pay off in the end as startups will take over the Indian market in the coming decade.


Online Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights

To inform the students about the different ways to protect intellectual property rights the Incubation center of Brainware University held a workshop on Intellectual Property Rights with Dr. Bhupal Bhattacharya as the guest speaker on March 30, 2021.
He started the discussions by highlighting the importance of IPR. In the age of startups, Intellectual Property Rights( IPR) has become more important since the market thrives on novelty so each new product must be patented to prevent misuse. Dr Bhattacharya also introduced the various concepts of trademarks, copyrights, and patents to the students. The session ended with a Q&A session where the students got to ask their questions about the legal facilities available for startups.


Workshop on How to Communicate Strategically in the Corporate World

In today’s world, communication plays an active role for the success of the company as well as for one’s life. To make the students inundated with proper strategies of communication, the Department of Management and Commerce, invited Dr. Mahul Brahma (D.Litt, PhD. Author, Chief Editor, TEDx Speaker, Columnist, Award-winning Communications, Branding and CSR Leader) to share his views and guide us on how we can communicate strategically on March 24,2021. Mr Brahma shared key techniques with students to perform better in the corporate workplace and improve their communication skills.


One-day Workshop on Process Design and Development-prototyping

A good design can help launch the product of your dreams. To help students perfect their product design and prototypes The Institution’s Innovation Council of Brainware University organised a One-day Workshop on Process Design and Development-prototyping on March 31, 2021 at 3:30 PM. Mr Rajesh Dey (Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Brainware Group of Institutions) was the guest speaker for the event. He demonstrated various key techniques to take an idea from concept to end product. The session came to an end with Mr Dey sharing product development resources for students.

Two Weeks Workshop on Software Testing

At Brainware University success becomes a reality. To help prepare our students for the IT industry the Department of Computational Science organised a Two Weeks Workshop on Software Testing in collaboration with IEEE student branch from March 15, 2021 to April 1, 2021. Renowned IT and networking professionals across the country from WIPRO, TCS, and others were invited to guide the students on mastering all aspects of software testing and programming. Through the live demonstration students learned how to detect and prevent bugs, quick troubleshooting, and optimising performance. As the industry grows more competitive graduate’s students are being accepted to possess specific skill sets. We ensure our students are job-ready, always.

“Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” Celebration

India’s freedom has been hard won. Years of struggle and perseverance on the part of our ancestors have led to the establishment of our cherished democracy. In honour of 75th Independence Day, Brainware University under the guidance of The University Grants Commission(UGC) and the leadership of our honourable Prime Minister Mr Narenda Modi joined the nation in celebration of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” on March 12, 2021.
Launched 75 weeks before our 75th Independence Day, this mega event seeks to bring together the nation in order to celebrate the 91st anniversary of Dandi March, the historical event which sparked India’s journey to Independence.
Brainware University organised a cultural programme on March 12, 2021 from 3:30 PM to celebrate the launch of this event. Students from the university enthusiastically delivered speeches and wrote essays on the impact of Dandi March and the role of Mahatma Gandhi in our freedom struggle.
The programme ended with a message to the students that they should cherish their country and learn about its history.
