The First International Conference on Emerging Trends in Allied Health Sciences

Redefining Healthcare

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the emphasis of research and development along the whole spectrum of public healthcare services. In the past year, the field of Allied Health Sciences has received a massive boost as funds and public support were steadily directed at its improvement. In the midst of this healthcare revolution, the School of Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University, organised the 1st International Conference on Emerging Trends in Allied Health Sciences on June 19, 2021. The conference was aimed at providing a platform for leading healthcare professionals in Eastern India to evaluate, discuss, and share expertise on the upcoming trends which would transform the healthcare market.

In the opening ceremony honourable guests such as Mr. Phalguni Mookhopadhayay (Chancellor, Brainware University), Dr. Tamal Kanti Ghosh (Special Secretary, Medical Education, Government of West Bengal), Padmashree Prof. Dr. S.Natarajan, Prof. Sankar Gangopadhyay, and Padmashree Prof A.K Roy motivated the audience by sharing their message of hope about the bright future of this field.

Throughout the day, leading healthcare providers in the varied fields of physiotherapy, optometry, radiology, and others shared with students the latest diagnostic methodologies and healthcare practices. From emerging job opportunities to histological practices, oxygen therapy to patient management in ICU, the guest speakers provided students with a holistic view of the present state-of-the field.

The aim, Dr. Somnath Ghosh, the organising secretary, said “was to give students a chance to learn about the pioneering advancements in the field and network with experts to boost their career,” he added.
The students also chimed in with innovative poster presentations at the end of each programme demonstrating that healthcare is a collaborative field.
As a maiden effort, the programme provided students with a wonderful opportunity to learn and develop their skills with the assistance of professionals.

Career Opportunity after B.Tech. and How to Prepare Yourself

Finding the next step

Once you have completed engineering, what next? To help you decide what to do after B.Tech, the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Brainware Group of Institutions and Brainware University organized a Workshop titled “Career Opportunity after B.Tech. and How to Prepare Yourself” on June 24,2021 from 2:30 PM. Shubhendu Rajak (Junior Engineer, Steel Authority of India Limited, IISCO Steel Plant) was the guest speaker for this event. Rajak suggested the ways in which they can pursue higher studies or certification courses. The students can also appear for some civil service examinations or try for PSU jobs. He encouraged the students to become entrepreneurs or lecturers.
This workshop boosted the confidence of the participants and encouraged them to work hard.


Three-day Event on “Introduction to Python Programming”

Learning from the best

What’s the secret to a successful career in the IT industry? To help students find the answer to this question, The Department of Computational Sciences organised a Three-day Event on “Introduction to Python Programming” on 4th, 8th, 9th June 2021 at 4 PM. Data scientist Ms. Sriparna Mondal (Villanova University, USA) was the resource person for all three days.
The event started by familiarising students with the history of Python’s development and the reasons behind its popularity as a major programming language. The speaker shared strategies to give better interviews and to build an impressive resume while answering students’ career related questions.


A Workshop on Lean start-up and Minimum Viable Product/Business

The Secret of Entrepreneurial Success

What’s the best strategy for a successful business? Brainware University prides itself on being an innovation hub for first-generation entrepreneurs. To help them grow, The School of Management & Commerce and Institution Innovation Council (IIC) jointly organised A Workshop on Lean start-up and Minimum Viable Product/Business as part of Brainster 2K21 celebration on June 12, 2021 from 2 PM. Mr. Rabin Roy, Founder and Managing Director of SunCraft Energy. After a demonstration of how to create MVPs, Mr Roy answered students’ queries regarding entrepreneurship. He parted with a message asking students to “dare to do the impossible and always be willing to learn from scratch,” he said.


A Workshop on Accelerators/Incubation-opportunities students and faculties-early stage entrepreneurs

Support at every stage

The School of Management & Commerce in collaboration with Institute Innovation Council(IIC) organised A Workshop on Accelerators/Incubation-opportunities for Students and Faculties-Early Stage Entrepreneurs as part of Brainster2K21 on June 11,2021 from 3 PM to help young entrepreneurs find their footing in the ever-changing corporate landscape of India. Mr. Rabin Roy, Founder and Managing Director of SunCraft Energy.
Mr. Roy motivated students by saying “while you are going to face challenges, see them as learning opportunities and test-runs. Everything will be okay in the end,” he said while talking about the hesitation of people choosing entrepreneurship as a career.


Workshop on “Introduction to Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) Materials and their Applications in Fluorometric Detection of Environmentally and Biologically Relevant Analytes”

Exploring the science behind industry metals

Over the past few decades, Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) Materials have gained considerable attention. To inform the students about this interesting feature, the Department of Chemistry, Brainware University organized a Workshop on “Introduction to Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) Materials and their Applications in Fluorometric Detection of Environmentally and Biologically Relevant Analytes” on June 21, 2021 at 4 PM . Dr. Shyam P. Biswas (Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati) was the speaker for this event. Biswas started his presentation by explaining the difference between MOF and other porous compounds. He also provided detailed ideas about the synthetic strategy of fluorescent MOF. The session ended with a Q&A.


“Right to Health: Bridging the gap and strengthening the constitutional and existing laws”

Creating a healthier system

To understand how right to health has evolved over the last decades and how it has been subjected to various obstacles and hindrances due to the nature of the right itself, the Department of Law, Brainware University organized a workshop on “Right to Health: Bridging the gap and strengthening the constitutional and existing laws” June 5, 2021 from 4.30 pm. In this workshop the guest speaker was Dr. Sadhna Gupta (Assistant Professor in PG Department of Law, Centre for Legal Studies, Hooghly Mohsin Govt. College, West Bengal).
Gupta introduced the topic of health in accordance with international regulations particularly with respect to the World Health Organisation. She explained the historical background and jurisprudence of right to health including our constitutional mandate under Directive Principles of State Policy.
She concluded the speech by showing options for bridging the gap and strengthening the constitutional and legal framework for addressing any future health emergency.


Workshop on “Dictionary: Character and History”

Exploring the origins of language

The dictionary isn’t just a rich compendium of words but it is also a book whose every page is bound with a history that we must explore. To help students understand the evolution of the modern dictionary and its cultural significance, the Department of English & Literary Studies in collaboration with the Central Library of Brainware University organised a Workshop on Dictionary: Character and History on June 21, 2021 from 11:30 AM. Mr. Biplab Kumar Chandra (Assistant Librarian, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology) and Ms. Bandana Basu (Librarian, Brainware University) were the speakers for this event. Together they explained the historical development of dictionaries and the revolution that went into its making.


Workshop on ‘Emerging Trends in HR: Future Prospects’

Pathbreaking career development

With the new working environment, the expectations of the employers are continuously getting modified. On June 19, 2021, a workshop was arranged by School of Management & Commerce on the topic – ‘Emerging Trends in HR: Future prospects’. The entire workshop was conducted by Dr. Rajarshi Debnath and Prof. Baisakhi Dasgupta and moderated by two students of BBA 2019 batch- Mr. Spandan Goswami and Ms. Riya Paul. Ms. Aditi Mishra(HR Manager of Continental Automotive Components India Pvt. Ltd.) was the guest speaker for the event. The workshop focused on the origin and evolution of Human Resource with our students. She also included how Artificial Intelligence(AI) helps in HR in the modern organizational environment. It was an extremely interactive session and students received quality industrial training from an expert.


“Effective Communication:Listen to Learn”

Mastering language skills

To make the students understand the value and importance of communication in today’s competitive world in global environment, the Department of English and Literary Studies, Brainware University organized a workshop on “Effective Communication- Listen to Learn” on June 12, 2021 from 4 PM. Dr. Leena Sarkar Bhaduri (Assistant Professor, Sri Agrasen Mahavidyalaya, North Dinajpur) was invited as the guest speaker for this workshop.
The main emphasis of this workshop was on the importance of oral and written communication in the professional world. Bhaduri explained how to shrug off hesitation and be confident while speaking. She cited examples from interviews of Shashi Tharoor and Indra Nooyi and tried to assure the students to have faith in their own abilities.


A programme on “সম্পত্তির উপর নারীর অধিকার: আইনী পর্যালোচনা” (Women Right to Property: Legal Analysis)

Right to a equitable future

To give students an overview of the property rights entitled to women, the Central Library of Brainware University in collaboration with School of Law Library, Brainware University organised a A programme on “সম্পত্তির উপর নারীর অধিকার: আইনী পর্যালোচনা” (Women's Right to Property: Legal Analysis)on June 7, 2021 at 4 PM. Dr. Ravindranath Bhattacharya (Professor, Department of Sanskrit, University of Calcutta) and Mr. Soumik Ash (Assistant Professor, School of Law, Brainware University) were the speakers for the event.


Workshop on “Tips & Tricks to crack HR interview and GDs”

Career training that makes a difference

Is success possible even during the unstable pandemic related job crisis? To help final year students master the strategies of a great interview and bridge the gap between the campus and the corporate world, the Department of Computational Science, Brainware University organised a Two-day Workshop on “Tips & Tricks to crack HR interview and GDs” on June 4, 2021 and June 5, 2021 from 4:30 pm. Mr. Biswajit Roy (Training & Placement Manager, Brainware University) and Mr. Siddhartha Ghosh ( Softskill Trainer, Brainware University) teamed up to train students to meet the challenges of the current job market.


Workshop on Odyssey from Campus to Corporate

Towards a transformational journey

To help students transition smoothly from the campus to a career of their dreams, The Department of Computational Science, Brainware University, organised a Workshop on Odyssey from Campus to Corporate on June 19, 2021 from 2:30 PM. Esteemed HR Professional Mr. Partha Pratim Chattaraj was the guest speaker for the event.
Mr. Chattaraj shared the secret of a good career with the students. “What does HR look for when hiring you? Your tenacity for improvement and how well you respond to suggestions. This is pretty much what it takes,” he said. According to Mr. Chattaraj, the reason why students miss out on opportunities is their hesitation to step out of their comfort zones. “If you keep holding yourself back now when you have little responsibility you will never grow. Use this time to network. Ask people for opportunities, beg if need be but keep learning and later you will see the magic,” he said.


Webinar on REACT JS & Related REACT Technologies

Endless training opportunities

To train the students on the concepts of REACT JS and its practical implementation, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Brainware University organized a Webinar on “ REACT JS & Related React Technologies” on June 12, 2021 from 4 PM. Mr. Debjit Basu ( Senior Software Development,Techno Exponent, T-Web Exponent Services Private Limited) was the guest speaker for this event.
In this webinar, students gained hands-on experience by knowing about the tools required for developing REACT applications. The participants got a very clear idea of what REACT is and why it is useful. The speaker was very interactive and encouraged both the teachers and students for more workshops related to this in future.


Workshop on “How to become a Web Developer”

Making web development easy

To enlighten the students on the intricacies required to become a web developer, the Department of Computational Science, Brainware University organized the workshop titled “How to become a Web Developer” for the final semester students. The event was held on June 12 2021 and June 19,2021 from 4.30 PM. The speaker was Mr. Tamaghna Banerjee (Senior Software Engineer- IMERIT TECHNOLOGY SERVICES).
Banerjee initiated the discussion by informing the participants about what employers expect these days. He also highlighted they areas where a fresher may struggle. The speaker emphasized on various aspects like what are the things to put on a website, who will host it or how to make it interactive.
With the guidance that our esteemed speaker provided, our participants gained an understanding of web development as a career path. He even promised the students that he will guide them in developing a web in future.

CoTechNova-2021

Solutions to Fight Against COVID-19 and Building an Innovation

What’s the x-factor in our fight against COVID-19? In an effort to provide students an opportunity to contribute against the fight, the Department of Computational Science in collaboration with IIC, Brainware University organised COTechNova-2021 on 26 June, 2021. The competition focused on showcasing students’ innovation on various emerging technologies aimed at fighting COVID-19. Dr. Palash Kumar Kundu (Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Jadavpur University) and Ms. Sanjukta Dutta (Technical Lead, Ericsson) were the guest judges for the event.

Students from all departments presented innovative models on using robotics, IoT, logistic management to bring COVID-19 under control, truly showcasing how enthusiasm and technology can work together to create a brighter future.
Finally after a lot of deliberation,the team “AHS MUSKATEERS” (Department of Allied Health Science) were declared as the winner while the team “SHUBHRAJIT-MEGHASWETA-DEBASMITA” (Department of Computational Science) were the first-runner ups. We hope that students keep on innovating and changing the world through the implementation of technology.

Five-Day Online Workshop “Digital Entrepreneurship: Future of Biz- A New Normal!”

Training for success

Digital economy has been thriving during the pandemic. To help students learn how to carve a space for themselves in this booming job sector, the School of Management and Commerce organised a Five-Day Online Workshop “Digital Entrepreneurship: Future of Biz- A New Normal” from June 3 to June 7, 2021. The main aim of this workshop was to introduce students to the basics of creating a sustainable online business as a way to generate new avenues of livelihood, for themselves and others.
The workshop had a host of eminent professors and industry experts like Dr. Rajarshi Debnath, Dr. Fedric Kujur, Dr. Tijendarpal Singh, Dr. Nimit Gupta, Dr. Joy Mokhopadhyay. Mr. Debajyoti Banerjee, Mr. Samudragupta Talukdar who introduced students to all aspects of digital entrepreneurship.

Article Writing Competition on Contemporary Issues of Intellectual Property Rights

One of the recent self-driven initiatives of the Institutions Innovation Council (IIC), Brainware University was the Article Writing Competition for the students. It was organised in the month of May, 2021 keeping in view the objectives of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The competition was on “Contemporary Issues of Intellectual Property Rights” and the sub-themes included the different fields of Science and Technology, Cyber Science, Copyright Law, Innovation and commercialization, Patent, Geographical matters and Plant Science/Technology.
The event was directed towards promoting awareness among the students about different sections of IPR. Besides encouraging, inspiring and nurturing young minds by providing them the opportunity to come up with new ideas and transform them into prototypes, the event also aimed at evaluating the knowledge, research aptitude, comparative analysis and writing skills of the participants. Numerous submissions were received of which the best 15 articles were chosen to be published in a special issue of the E-journal of Brainware University, BRAINWAVE: A Multidisciplinary Journal having ISSN number 2582-659X.
