The Department of Cyber Science & Technology had organized a 10-Days Faculty Development Program on Network and Cyber Security from January 12, 2021 to January 22, 2021 to discuss the recent developments in the field of networking and cyber security and its deep impact on our society, environment, industry and research.

Dr. Varun Kapoor (DGP, Police training college) discussed different cyber-crimes related security scenarios which professionals have to face. He discussed digital footprints & cyber stalking job avenues for students.

FDP Day 2: Victims of Cyber Crime and Human Rights Commission as a Friend

Dr. Lenin Raghuvanshi focused on the topics related to victims of Cyber-crime & human rights commission and the role cyber security agents should play in creating a safer online experience.

To spread awareness about the legal precepts of online decorum and legislation governing cybercrime in India, the Department of Law organised a Workshop on Cybercrime in India and Globalised World: Issues and Challenges, on January 2, 2021. Dr Anirban Mazumdar was the resource person for the event. Discussed the most famous cyber-crime cases in legal history and informed participants about India’s stringent cyber laws and resources in place to protect them.

Dr Hari Sankar Das (Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of North Bengal) introduced students to the process through which chemists utilise their remarkable properties to speed up traditional reactions in the manufacturing process. This workshop helped students prepare for the job market by understanding the demands of the industry.

Workshop on Public Interest Litigation : Reflection on Human Rights Jurisprudence

Public Interest Litigations are important provisions for providing legal aid to the socially disadvantaged. To inform students about PIL related legal provisions and prepare them for a legal career, the Department of Law organised a workshop on Public Interest Litigation: Reflection on Human Rights Jurisprudence on January 18, 2021. Mr. Vikramjit Banerjee (Ld.Additional Solicitor General of India (ASGI), Ld.Senior Counsel of Supreme Court and former Advocate General of Nagaland) was the guest speaker for the workshop. He informed students about the origin of PIL and how they could participate to create a fairer judicial system.

To inform our budding engineers about the advanced power modeling and control techniques in Hydel power stations, the Department of Electrical Engineering, Brainware University, organized a webinar on Operation and Maintenance of Hydel Power Station with reference to Electromechanical Equipment, on January 20, 2021. The speaker, Paritosh Dutta (former Additional Chief Engineer, West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited) discussed how heat loss could be minimized and the different engineering strategies to create a more efficient energy generation system.

The Department of English and Literary Studies of Brainware University had the opportunity to invite celebrated academician Dr Ajanta Paul (Principal and Professor of English, Women’s Christian College, Kolkata) as the guest speaker for the Workshop on Writing to Connect on January 21, 2020. The workshop aimed at helping students perfect their writing skills for professional success.

Professor C.R.Sinha (Professor & Head, Department of Chemistry, Jadavpur University) was the guest of honour for the event.This workshop highlighted the research results of the deliberate design of the trace analysis of biologically important ions.

Republic Day Lecture on The Lesser Known Sides of a Rural Humanity: Colonial Domination and Adivasi Resilience

The diversity of India is one of its greatest strengths. To celebrate the 72nd Republic Day of India by spreading awareness of the role of native adivasis in the freedom struggle, The Central Libraries of Brainware University and Brainware Group of Institutions-SDET organised a special Republic Day Lecture on The Lesser Known Sides of a Rural Humanity: Colonial Domination and Adivasi Resilience in 19th and 20th Century on January 30, 2021 at 4:30 PM. Dr. Rachana Chakraborty (Professor, Department of History, Calcutta University) was the special guest and Dr Raj Sekhar Basu (Professor, Department of History, Calcutta University) was the guest speaker for the event. They discussed the erasure of adivasi women from nationalist historiography and the need to reclaim such spaces. This workshop helped us appreciate the rich diversity of cultures in India and our history of struggle.

Online Workshop on Text Analytics

Text analytics is an important tool for business development. To help students learn about this vital topic the School of Management and Commerce of Brainware University had organized a three-day online workshop on “Text Analytics” from 29-01-2021 to 31-01-2021. Mr. Basudev Panda (Senior Data Science Professional from DXC Technologies) was the resource person for this workshop. He discussed different online courses for students to learn text analytics and shared strategies to help boost their career.

Workshop on Centenary Celebration of Satyajit Ray
|
|
On January 16, 2020 The Central Library of Brainware University and Brainware Group of Institutions organised an Online Workshop on Satabarshey Satyajit Ray (Centenary Celebration of Satyajit Ray) at 4.30 PM. A titan of mid-century art cinema, Satyajit Ray has left an indelible mark not only on Bengali consciousness but also on the global cinematic history. 2021 marks the birth centenary of this luminary of world cinema and it is fitting that this is the year we truly learn to honour Ray by appreciating the essence of his cinematic universe. Mr Debasish Mukhopadhyay was the facilitator of the workshop and helped the audience understand the inherent poetry of Ray’s cinematic language. He urged the audience to, “engage in critical discussions of Ray’s work. Building monuments won’t mean as much as a true engagement with the spirit of his work. Let us keep him alive by watching, enjoying, and discussing his art.” The session ended with a short video tribute to Ray’s genius.

The Proof of Concept Challenge

The Tech Club of Brainware University in association with Institution’s Innovation Council( IIC) Ministry of Education and AICTE organised an annual innovation contest to give young minds the platform to showcase their innovative ideas before a panel of experts. Innovation is the need of the hour and India is counting on innovators to take our country to the next level of development on January 18, 2020.
The participating teams came up with a wide range of interesting ideas like creating automatic hand sanitizer dispensers, Novus Oculus (a navigation system for the visually imparied), and a Modern fire extinguisher ball.
Mr Dibaker Dutta’s team’s proposal of Fish Culture by means of Biofloc technology was awarded first prize, while Mr Siddhanth Das’s project on ‘Novus Oculus’ was awarded the second position. Finally, Mr Shrimanta Garain’s team was awarded third prize for their project on ‘Accident Alert System’.
