The Human Resource industry is rapidly changing. To help students keep up and build a synergistic relationship with the industry, the Institute Innovation Council in collaboration with the School of Management & Commerce, Brainware University organised A Workshop on“Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behaviour Development” on December 4, 2021 from 5 PM. Industry expert, Mr. Subhajit Roy (Co-founder & Director, Krishworks Technology & Research Labs Pvt.Ltd) was the guest speaker for the event. Mr Roy shared instances from his own career where he failed in order to motivate the students. Mr Roy also shared strategies to make good impressions on the recruiters and how to get ahead in life. He advised students to develop core skill sets in their area of expertise. The session concluded with him answering students’ queries. We shall continue to provide students such opportunities to interact with trailblazers so that they can craft an excellent future.

The Department of Biotechnology, Brainware University organized an online photography competition entitled 'Pollution and Habitat Loss' on 2nd December, 2021 at 4.00 pm. Selected students gave brief presentations on their photography and prizes were awarded.The ongoing climate emergency is a burning issue for all of humanity and the students responded to the theme with thought-provoking and well-constructed entries. After careful consideration, 8 entries were selected among the submission pool. The 8 selected entries were shared and the students gave presentations on the pictures, and enlightened the audience on what was their thought-process behind the compositions. students provided mature commentary and it was a fitting companion to the seriousness of the theme and the high-quality of the images. Climate change, pollution, habitat loss are serious issues and we were glad that our students are aware of the crises facing the world and their possible role in the future at mitigating the same.

On December 10, 2021 the Department of Biotechnology, Brainware University organized an online workshop on “Structure and molecular bases of Xkr-mediated phospholipid scrambling in apoptotic cells”.  Dr. Sayan Chakraborty(Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Anesthesiology, Biophysics, Physiology, and Systems Biology, Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University) was invited as the guest speaker. Mr. Chakraborty explained in detail the mechanism behind the process of apoptosis, which is a programmed form of cell death. It is a highly regulated process, which if occurring in excess leads to atrophy and if occurring in an insufficient amount leads to diseases like cancer.. It was not just an academic session as Mr. Chakraborty shared many details about scholarships and stipends available under the Department of Anesthesiology, Biophysics, Physiology and Systems Biology at the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. The students were greatly enthused by this information which would help them greatly in planning their future careers.

A workshop on “Fluorescent Carbon Dots for Sensing and Imaging Applications” was organized on  December 6, 2021 at 4 PM by the Department of Chemistry.  The speaker, Dr. Kalyanasis Sahu (Professor, Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati) started his presentation with the preliminary idea of carbon dots. He also provided detailed information about the synthetic strategy of fluorescent carbon dots.  Different examples of synthesized carbon dots were also discussed which were employed for the fluorometric detection of different biologically and environmentally relevant analytes, such as bilirubin, Vitamin-B12, lead metal ions and hypochlorous acid. Furthermore, in this session all the aspects of fluorescent carbon dots and their potential applications in different fields were also discussed.

The world of photography presents students with an exciting array of career opportunities. To inform students about the state of the industry, the Department of Multimedia organized a Workshop on Fashion Photography on Continuous Light on December 20, 2021 from 1 PM where we had the chance to host acclaimed photographer Mr. Arghya Chatterjee as the guest speaker. Mr Chatterjee shared photographs from his portfolio to showcase the stylistic features of fashion photography. “It isn’t just about the glitz and glamor but understanding the beauty of the form is equally important. The lighting, the angles, everything counts,” he said.Mr Chatterjee then went on to talk about the courses and specializations that will help students build an impressive CV. “Most of these courses are already included in Brainware’s syllabus so you are already at an advantage,”he said.

The Gender Sensitization Cell of Brainware University organized an online workshop titled "Sexual Harassment at the Workplace: Mentally & Physically" on December 29, 2021 from 4 pm. The purpose of the programme was to make people aware of the impact of sexual harassment on women and to talk about the existing laws which seek to regulate this serious matter.
The question of the impact of sexual harrasment on women was addressed by Ms. Kasturi Sinha Ghosh, Assistant Professor of Social Work, NSOU. She addressed this serious and pressing matter with great erudition and care, and all the attendees were made aware of the devastating short and long-term effects of sexual harassment on women. Ms. Rituparna Das Sardar, Assistant Professor at Sarsuna Law College addressed the question of the existing legal frameworks which exist to deal with this matter. She enlightened the listeners about many things which they did not know and the various legal avenues which they can take recourse to as a result of facing harassment, and the rights that women enjoy in the workplace.
